BLDC Motor Speed Control Using Selective Harmonics Elimination (SHE) Inverter

The design and implementation of a Brushless DC (BLDC) motor specifically tailored for a three-wheeled electric vehicle intended to navigate Indian roads are presented in this paper. The system features a 900W BLDC motor integrated with an inverter incorporating Selective Harmonics Elimination (SHE) and Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) techniques. Additionally, it includes a controller with programmable functionality, a buck converter, and a lithium-ion battery system featuring an efficient Battery Management System (BMS). To achieve precise speed control and torque control of the BLDC motor. These methodologies dynamically adjust control signals such as voltage or current based on predictions generated by the model. Consequently, this approach results in smoother motor operation, heightened efficiency, and the ability to adapt to varying operating conditions without relying on explicit rule-based control strategies. A mean squared of 6% is obtained by comparing reference speed with the actual speed , which represents the designed model’s accuracy. Furthermore, the paper assesses the motor’s performance in the MATLAB environment, providing insights into its effectiveness and suitability for real-world applications.
