An Offline Engineering Analysis Software Platform for Oscillatory Stability Assessment

This paper introduces an off-line engineering analysis software, "BigSync" used to evaluate oscillatory stability. The software is developed using open source tools, making it more convenient for adaptation. The user will be able to visualize the dominant low-frequency modes extracted from the raw signal, and subsequently, the oscillations can be characterized through instantaneous energy and instantaneous frequency. The user also has access to the mode’s characteristics, such as damping ratio, frequency of oscillation, and energy content. The software will assist system operators and planning engineers in offline oscillation analysis and diagnosis.
