Research on SDN-based Load Balancing Routing Randomization Technique

Routing randomization is a network dynamic defense method that routes traffic in a random, dynamic switching manner. Its purpose is to increase network uncertainty and thus defend against scanning and reconnaissance. However, routing dynamics and randomization result in additional space-time overhead and negatively impact network performance. We address the negative impact of routing changes on network performance by adopting a load-balancing-based weighted multi-routing strategy that improves the dynamism and randomness of the network without significantly elevating the delay and packet loss of traffic. Theoretical and experimental validations demonstrate that our proposed approach is more effective than existing solutions in mitigating the conflict between improving network dynamics and randomness and network performance degradation.
