Design of a universal air-cooled heat dissipation system for rack-mounted servers

With the continuous deepening of world informatization and digitization, the demand for high-performance rack mounted servers in the market is constantly increasing. And the hardware design direction of servers is moving towards miniaturization and high-density to continuously improve the performance characteristics. This design direction has led to increasingly poor cooling performance of high-power hardware chips in increasingly compact spaces, which has directly affected the stability of server operation. To solve this hidden danger, this paper has designed a universal air-cooled cooling system applied to rack mounted servers, and has designed a server heat dissipation testing platform to verify the heat dissipation effect. The specific design: the baseboard management controller obtains the temperature situation of various parts in the working device and timely controls the fans’ speed based on the highest temperature to force the export of heat. The purpose of cooling the entire machine will be achieved. The high load operation test of servers under normal and high temperature conditions has been designed to verify the heat dissipation effect of the heat dissipation system designed in this paper. The experimental results indicate that the air-cooled heat dissipation system designed in this paper can effectively reduce the overall temperature of servers operating at high loads in high-temperature environments and ensure the stability of server operation.
