A Compact Broadband Double Ridge RF Window for X-Band Sheet Beam TWT

This article presents the design of an X-band double ridge window that can operate within the frequency range of 5.9-12 GHz, 64.4% in relative bandwidth. The application of optimization techniques in CST results in a reflection coefficient $(S_{11})$ of less than −20 dB across the transmission bandwidth. The compact structure of the microwave window discussed in this paper offers advantages for the miniaturization of sheet beam traveling wave tube (TWT). Sensitivity analysis has been conducted to address manufacturing tolerances. A deviation of less than 0.5 mm from the designed value of impedance matching thickness and 0.4 mm from the window thickness is considered tolerable.
