Development of a D-STATCOM Control Based on Fuzzy Logic

The use of D-STATCOM enable to reduce the harmonic components of current and voltage fluctuations in an electric network with distributed generation. Traditional control methods cause the slow response of D-STATCOM when connecting to a network of renewable energy sources (RES) power plants with stochastic and nonlinear generation. The use of a fuzzy logic controller allows you to increase the efficiency of D-STATCOM. A D-STATCOM control algorithm has been developed that combines Mamdani's expert fuzzy logic for voltage regulation and Sugeno's fuzzy controller for current regulation with pulse width modulation (PWM). The results of experimental studies conducted on a MATLAB model of an electrical network section with RES and D-STATCOM confirmed the effectiveness of the developed algorithm.
