Procedural Generation of Aneurysm Angiograms Using 3D Mesh Reconstruction

This paper presents a novel approach for generating realistic aneurysm simulations from angiograms using procedural techniques. The proposed method involves procedurally generating a 3D mesh of veins in the head and simulating angiograms by rotating a virtual camera around the mesh. Transparent materials are utilized to mimic the transparency of angiograms. Two main challenges are addressed: (1) calculating vertexes and triangles for the shape of the vein and (2) shaping each vein to have a realistic path within the head. Solutions include employing branching algorithms for vein splitting and incorporating anatomical data from medical imaging studies to guide vein trajectory. The resulting generator demonstrates promising potential for aiding in medical education, training, and research in the field of neurovascular diseases.
