Abstract:

In this work, the problem of constellation design for energy-based modulations in noncoherent massive SIMO systems is studied. Based on previous works, a family of statistical CSI-aware quadratic detectors is considered, whose associated error probabilities can be approximately characterized analytically when the number of receiving antennas is sufficiently large. These expressions are used to set various optimization problems whose solutions yield constellations tailored to specific second-order channel and noise statistics. Numerical results validate the improved performance of such designs.
