Study on Power Market Bidding Strategies for Aggregating Electric Vehicles in Virtual Power Plants

Considering challenges such as power volatility and load instability in distributed renewable energy generation within virtual power plants (VPPs), there are inherent risks and instabilities for VPPs to participate in the power market. Electric vehicles (EVs), as controllable loads and reserve energy storage devices, can enhance the coordination and complementation of multiple renewable energy sources in VPPs, thus achieving optimal overall benefits. This paper first investigates the travel patterns of EVs. Subsequently, based on the travel patterns, this study clusters EVs and uses them as the reserve power for VPPs to participate in the day-ahead market bidding, thus leveling out the volatility of VPPs. A bidding strategy model is built to optimize the overall benefits of VPPs. Finally, the model is solved to verify its validity and the correctness of the solution method, proving the effectiveness of aggregating EVs in VPPs for power market bidding.
