Effect of xenon on the gas temperature in carbon monoxide lasers

By experimentally measuring the gas temperature of a discharge in CO-He-(Xe) laser gas mixtures it is established that the advantageous effect of the addition of xenon in > 10 percent efficient room temperature lasers is not a gas temperature effect.
