Automated Flood Barrier System (AFBS) with IoT Integration

In today's world, addressing the challenges posed by climate change is crucial, with flooding being a common and devastating disaster. Floods have caused significant damage, including the destruction of infrastructure, property, and loss of life. Homes are often submerged, leading to substantial material losses and displacing residents. Additionally, the high costs of post-flood recovery and repairs place a heavy burden on both government and community budgets. This highlights the urgent need for effective solutions to mitigate flood risks and impacts. Thus, this paper present Automated Flood Barrier System (AFBS) with IoT integration for residential area. Agile model is used in designing the project that consists of hardware and software development. The AFBS device attached with two ultrasonic sensors, CCTV and microcontroller. The data will be transmitted to Blynk mobile application. The user will get the notification via mobile application when the water level reached the threshold value and the barrier will be automatically activated. The user also can monitor their house using CCTV. The system also incorporates a robust database to maintain a comprehensive log of water level adjustments and barrier activation. This innovative system embodies a proactive paradigm in protecting vulnerable households from the dangers of rising water levels. By combining advanced technology with user-focused design, the system not only reduces risk but also empowers residents, demonstrating a forward-thinking approach towards resilient infrastructure in the face of environmental challenges
