Transmitter Side Control in Wireless Power Transfer for Drone Applications

Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) technology has emerged as a promising solution for extending the flight time and operational range of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), commonly known as drones. The effectiveness of WPT systems in drone applications heavily relies on maintaining a stable and constant output current despite variations in mutual inductance between the transmitter and receiver coils. when in constant current charging, the load variation effect on the current gain is negligible, and the effect of change in mutual inductance is very high when operated at resonant frequency of the system. Due to this issue the effect of mutual inductance needs to be addressed and necessary control action has to be taken to get the desired output. A method is proposed in this paper to addresses the critical issue of mutual inductance variation and to estimate the mutual inductance with the primary side information without any use of communication devices and ensure constant current delivery to drone batteries.
