A Novel Reversible Gate Design for Comprehensive Logic and Arithmetic Operations

Reversible logic is becoming increasingly important in various research fields like quantum computing, nanotechnology, and optical computing. The study of reversible gates has emerged as a promising research domain, promoting a continuous cycle of innovative trends that explore and efficiently utilize available resources. Adders play a crucial role in multipliers, especially in digital signal processing (DSP) applications. Reversible logic gates are a promising advancement in digital circuit design due to their ability to perform lossless operations. This study presents the design of a novel 4×4 reversible ASK gate and explores its applications in efficient digital circuits. The work includes the implementation of one bit adder and subtractor using the proposed gate. The proposed full adder architecture outperforms in terms of garbage count, ancilla inputs and power in comparison with the existing designs.
