A Broadband High-Gain Millimeter-Wave Pattern Reconfigurable Antenna With Enhanced Performance

This paper demonstrates a broadband high-gain millimeter-wave pattern reconfigurable antenna based on asymmetrical top-loaded monopole. By loading a circular ring, the reconfigurable bandwidth and gain of the antenna are enhanced without changing its size. The antenna covers the Ka band, the beam is reconfigured between about ±30 degrees, and the gain is higher than 7.5dBi. The small size makes it suitable for wide-angle broadband phased array and millimeter wave communications.
