Abstract:
In this work, the problem of designing unconventional phased array architectures for non-terrestrial networks is addressed. A review of array synthesis methods for cost-effective designs is presented, demonstrating the feasibility of employing simplified and modular array architectures for space-oriented applications. An illustrative numerical example is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness and advantages of unconventional tiled arrays for uplink communication with low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellations.
