Design and Analysis of an Electronically Tunable VDTA-Based Quadrature Oscillator

This article introduces an innovative voltage-mode quadrature oscillator employing a Voltage Differencing Transconductance Amplifier (VDTA) as an active element, with two capacitors and a grounded resistor for seamless monolithic integration. The circuit enables autonomous adjustment of oscillation conditions and frequencies, validated through 180 nm CMOS-based TSMC technology. With minimal power consumption (1.15mW), PSPICE simulations affirm practicality by displaying observable transient and frequency response outputs. Comprehensive analyses cover temperature assessment and Total Harmonic Distortion (%THD), offering an all-encompassing understanding of the circuit's performance in diverse conditions. The oscillator's adaptability is showcased in Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (QPSK) applications for transmission and reception. This research establishes the proposed circuit as a promising and versatile solution for communication systems, supplying engineers and researchers with valuable insights for real-world applications.
