Cross-Layer Optimization of Scalable Video Transmission for IoV in 6G

Currently, Internet of Vehicles (IoV) networks are attracting significant attention since they provide emerging opportunities and applications in the sixth generation (6G) networks. In IoV systems, online video streaming serves as a crucial wireless application. In the face of limited network resource, this paper proposes a novel transmission strategy, which jointly utilizes the video encoding structure and bitrate control in application layer, the power allocation in data link layer, and the modulation in physical layers. Additionally, to effectively obtain the optimal configuration, the proposed strategy is formulated and then it is proven to be a quasi-concave problem. Thus, the proposed strategy could sufficiently utilize the radio resource to efficiently achieve high performance.
