Abstract:
A numerical investigation of moving dielectric interface and dielectric slab illuminated by plane electromagnetic waves, using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) technique, is presented. Within the FDTD time loop, motions are obtained by shifting the locations of structures at particular times. The transmitted and reflected waves are studied, at normal incidence, for different speeds, in time and frequency domains. The simulated transmission coefficients, reflection coefficients, and Doppler effects are compared with closed-form equations that agree with the literature. Furthermore, the effect of the Fresnel drag is studied.
