Building a Secure Cross-Device Communication Channel for Smart Devices Based on App Accounts

Current cross-device communication services do not provide good cross-manufacturer support for apps because they are bound with different manufacturer accounts. In this paper, we propose an app-level secure cross-device communication scheme to address the challenge of limited cross-manufacturer support. The scheme introduces an app-Ievel key derivation method asso-ciated with the app account. The scheme provides confidentiality and authentication, while also being resistant to device tracking, enhancing user privacy and data protection, and mitigating app impersonation attacks. The evaluation results show that it offers a secure and efficient cross-device communication solution suitable for real-world deployment.
