High Efficient Wireless Powered Capsule Devices via Planar Transmitting Coils

Miniatured and ingestible medical devices, especially in the gastrointestinal, cardiovascular and neurological fields, show great application potential, but their widespread use is limited by the small on-board batteries. In this study, we propose an ingestible capsule that is powered by an efficient wireless power transfer system with planar transmitting coils. The size and structure of the small receiving coil inside the capsule are designed and optimized using Ansys HFSS. The system is able to maintain a transfer efficiency of more than 80% at different positions and angles of the capsule, significantly increasing the energy absorption capacity of a small receiving coil. This innovative wireless energy transfer technique is expected to advance the technology of ingestible medical devices and play an important role in future medical practices.
