Performance Analysis of Three-Dimensional Impact Angle Control Guidance Laws

Improving the efficacy of warheads is notably impacted by guidance laws governing impact angle control. In this article, a comparative analysis of the efficacy of different impact angle control methodologies in three-dimensional missile-target interception scenarios is presented. For the comparative study, different kinds of guidance laws are taken into account, including those based on the biased proportional navigation, optimal control, Lyapunov stability method, sliding mode control, and analytical solution based method. The efficacy of the guidance strategy is evaluated by considering the following factors: the continuity of the lateral acceleration profile, the maximal acceleration value, the total control effort, and the ability to respect the field of view constraint.
