Target Specific Frequency Selection Criteria for Frequency Diverse Array Radar

The frequency diverse array (FDA) radar is based on a new array processing technique having a unique advantage of range-dependent beam formation. The design criteria for frequency components of FDA has been an important area of research. There are several techniques brought out to arrive at an appropriate frequency component set to optimize the performance of the radar. In this aspect, enhancement of Radar cross section(RCS) and detectability of small and nano UAV targets by use of frequency diverse array has not been addressed. Thus, a novel approach is presented in this paper for the selection of frequencies that will result in RCS enhancement and facilitate the detection of small targets with a detailed analysis of propeller RCS.
