The Synergistic Effect of Carbon-Silver Conductive Filler for Electric Joint Compound

Electric joint compound has been commonly used between terminal connectors to reduce connect resistance to prohibit heating problems. The conductivity, cone penetration and oil separation rate will all have an impact on the failure of electric joint compound. The type and content of conductive fillers are the main factors affecting the performance of electric joint compound. In this article, we chose carbon-silver conductive filler to replace the traditional conductive filler, tested the macroscopic properties of the electric joint compound, and verified the reduction effect of electrical joint heating. The results show that the carbon-silver conductive filler electric joint compound has better cone penetration and oil separation performance while maintaining high conductivity. The overlapping parts of connector terminals coated with carbon-silver conductive filler electric joint compound have lower temperature rise during operation. The use of carbon-silver conductive filler in electric joint compound has a synergistic effect compared to the use of carbon or silver conductive filler alone.
