Performance Analysis of Three-Phase Grid-Connected Inverter System with Improved SMC-based MPC Control Method

Model Predictive Control (MPC) is a closed-loop strategy that uses inputs and aligns outputs with a specific set point or reference signal as a result of this process. This closed-loop operation involves continually updating input variable decisions based on system measurements. Widely used in power electronic applications due to its fast dynamic response, MPC excels in dealing with multiple control objectives and nonlinearities. In addition to these advantages, the MPC method has the disadvantage of not having ideal switching characteristics. This article suggests a sliding mode control based on the MPC (SMC-MPC) control method. This proposed control and the classical MPC methods are applied to a three-phase grid-connected inverter system in the Matlab/SIMULINK environment. As a result, the steady-state and transient analysis of the system using these methods are compared.
