Preparation and Flashover Properties of Hydrophobic Fluorosilicone-SiO2 Coatings

In the complex operating environment, high-voltage power equipment faces a series of problems such as surface pollution and loss of hydrophobicity, which may eventually lead to flashover. To solve these problems, the hydrophobic fluorosilicone- SiO
2
composite coatings were prepared by adding SiO
2
with different particle sizes (20 nm, $300 \mathrm{~nm}, 20 \mathrm{~nm} / 300 \mathrm{~nm}$ and $2 \mu \mathrm{m}$) to the fluorosilicone resin. The surface morphology, roughness and hydrophobicity of the coating were investigated by SEM, AFM and contact angle instruments. hydrophobicity depends on the microstructure of the coating, controlled by the diameter of the SiO
2
particles. The contact angle of the superhydrophobic composite coating with $20 \mathrm{~nm} \mathrm{SiO}{ }_{2}$ reaches 152°. The influence of the surface structure of coatings on their flashover characteristics is systematically studied. The flashover experiment shows that the flashover voltage of the $20 \mathrm{~nm} \mathrm{SiO} \mathbf{S}_{2}$ composite coating is increased to 15.4 kV, which is twice that of the fluorosilicone resin coating, showing good anti-flashover characteristics. The superhydrophobic coating promises to be a prospective application in the anti-flashover performance of power equipment.
