Electric Field Distribution of Micro Surface Scratch Defects in GIS Insulation Pull Rods

Insulation pull rods are key components in gas insulated switchgear (GIS), and their performance directly determines the reliability of GIS. As the transmission part that plays an electrical and mechanical connection between the switch body and the operating mechanism, it is subjected to large potential differences and frequent and huge instantaneous mechanical loads for a long time. This article applies Micro-CT non-destructive 3D imaging technology for the detection of micro defects in insulation pull rods. Through Micro-CT scanning, the irregular true morphology of the defects is located, and a mesh model is established to form a geometric entity for finite element electric field simulation. The simulation results are compared with traditional artificial defect settings. The results indicate that Micro-CT technology can effectively characterize micro defects in insulation pull rods, providing more accurate simulation evidence for insulation hazards caused by small defects that are easily overlooked during factory inspections. The electric field simulation based on Micro-CT technology provides a more detailed analysis of the electric field impact of surface micro scratch defects, providing a basis for future factory inspection and standard formulation of insulation pull rods.
