A Camera Robot Pose Converter Based on Embedded System

The camera robot with arm type was widely used in the Virtual Production System (VP), but its pose format was set by the manufacturer and usually did not conform to the commonly used FREE-D protocol. There were some camera pose conversion software, but they could not directly receive the time synchronization signals conformed to the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) standard commonly used in film and television fields. The existing embedded converters usually did not have a Genlock interface. With a completely self-developed demo board and software, a camera pose converter for the camera robot was designed in this paper. It could convert the camera pose format to FREE-D, synchronizing with the SMPTE-compliant video synchronization signal. Compared with the conversion system based on an optical system, the converter allowed the camera to move freely in all degrees of freedom in Cartesian space without fear of interference.
