Integrating STEAM and Maker Education in High School to Introduce the Microchip Manufacturing Process

The rapid evolution of microchip technology has significantly transformed various global industries, necessitating innovative educational approaches to align with technological advancements. This article explores the integration of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) with Maker Education at Brazilian high schools, aiming to demystify the microchip manufacturing process. Through practical, handson activities and the utilization of 3D printed models, this study demonstrates a method for engaging students with the intricate concepts of microchip production and binary logic. The didactic tools developed for this purpose enable students to visualize and interact with the stages of microchip construction and function, fostering a deeper understanding and sparking interest in the field of microelectronics. This educational approach enhances student technical skills while simultaneously promoting problem-solving, critical thinking, and creativity, all essential competencies in the contemporary technological landscape. The methodology presented herein shows potential as a scalable model for secondary education, aiming to inspire future innovations in the integration of technology and interdisciplinary learning.
