Implementation and Performance Analysis of Controller Schemes for Mobile Robot

This study aims to analyze and compare the working and output of a bang-bang controller and various combinations of a PID controller. These controllers have been deployed for accurate and precise distance control and to minimize overshoot and rise time. This study deals with the applications of the above-mentioned controllers in the entertainment industry, mainly on a roller coaster. A roller coaster is a type of mobile robot, and in this study, an attempt has been made to achieve accurate distance control by simulating a two-wheeled roller coaster driven by two DC motors. This study shows that the PID controller helps achieve stability faster than the Bang Bang controller and is more accurate. Hence, PID controllers are proven suitable for mobile robotics applications with improved accuracy, efficiency, robustness, versatility, and stability. Shortly, the authors intend to apply various optimization techniques and machine learning algorithms for parameter tuning PID and fractional PID controllers.
