Efficient Utilization of 3D Printing Waste: Enhancing Filament Performance via PID Control Strategy

Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) is used to create 3D prototypes for various industries and daily activities. The filament extruder is a crucial component in FDM technology as it transforms raw thermo-plastic into required 3D printing filament that gives value-added benefits such as customization, a low-cost solution, convenience, and sustainability. In this proposed method, an extruder is developed to manufacture filaments from recycled plastic materials, providing a sustainable, cost-effective solution with better efficiency. The ability to alter filament properties, such as diameter, offers a degree of adaptability that is typically obtainable with some commercially available extruders. The proposed solution features cost-effective solutions and personalized material production in the present era of FDM. It also shows that the zone temperature of the extruder and the speed of the extruder screw motor is directly proportional to the diameter of extruded filament. This paper makes valuable contributions to diverse sectors, such as sustainability and technological advancement, by using innovative production approaches for the 3D printing filament material.
