Intelligent control of high voltage circuit breaker based on Active Disturbance Rejection Control

The stability and safety of the power system’s control device need to be enhanced in light of China’s success with high-voltage equipment technology and smart grid development. The essential switch in the power system is the HV circuit breaker. It has a significant impact on the stability and safety of the electric power system. However, the high-voltage circuit breaker will have problems such as misoperation, slow action, and too long arc duration in the working process. Enhancing the high-voltage circuit breaker’s stability and anti-interference capabilities can increase the power system’s operational safety and dependability. This paper presents a simulation project based on the ADRC that simulates the functioning mechanism of a high voltage circuit breaker. First, the high-voltage circuit breaker’s motor working mechanism control system is modeled and simulated. Next, the systems with and without interference factors are simulated using active disturbance rejection control and conventional PID control, respectively. Ultimately, the analysis of the two control systems reveals that ADRC can effectively enhance the anti-interference ability and stability of high-voltage circuit breakers, and it has a superior speed tracking control effect when there is external or system interference.
