Recent Developments in MIMO Antenna Architectures and their Future Directions

Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output technology has been instrumental in the way we communicate wirelessly. It is a key factor in the overwhelming growth of modern communication systems, providing higher data transfer and improved performance. MIMO technology utilizes multiple antennas at the transmitting and receiving ends to increase the capacity of wireless communication networks and improve signal quality. This allows for faster data transfer speeds, more reliable connections, and better overall coverage. With its ability to transmit multiple data streams simultaneously, MIMO technology is rapidly becoming a key enabler for next-generation wireless communication systems. With regards to the multi-functionality in wireless communications and providing a high data rate MIMO technology is very vital. It reduces multipath fading and consumes less power. Apart from the challenges of Isolation, antenna miniaturization must be the game changer. Designing Antennas concerning multiband and wideband performance requirements is simultaneously being proposed by many researchers. At 5G network establishments, MIMO Antennas are inevitable and it provides impeccably better results compared to the conventional Antennas. This paper addressed the recent developments in MIMO technology in a brief manner.
