Optimization of Detent Force of Tubular Permanent Magnet Linear Motor Based on Genetic Algorithm

The linear motor’s detent force is the primary factor affecting the motor’s speed stability.The tubular permanent magnet linear motor (TPMLM) is the research object of this paper, and the optimization goal is to keep the motor thrust constant while minimizing the mean value and peak-to-peak value (Vpp) of detent force. The analytical method is used to optimize the length of the mover and the pole-arc coefficient, and the genetic algorithm (GA) is used to optimize the five variables of the motor’s mover iron core, slot width, slot depth, slot length, slot height, and thickness of end tooth, and the finite element (FE) is used for the analysis and finally verified by experiments. The results show that the optimization of the mover structure by GA can reduce the average detent force by 45.71%, the Vpp by 83.31%, and the waveform of the detent force is smoother.
