Efficiency Improvements in Trusted Service Management System via APDU Command Orchestration

This paper presents a sophisticated enhancement of the Trusted Service Management (TSM) system tailored for smart-student-card applications, focusing on the orchestration of Java Card Application Protocol Data Unit (APDU) commands to improve system efficiency. We delve into the integration of APDU command orchestration in the service workflow management, which facilitates user-guided APDU sequence adjustments via an intuitive drag-and-drop interface, thereby optimizing the overall application runtime on smart cards. The Execution Time Optimizer (ETO) module is introduced as a pivotal component that estimates and refines the runtime of APDU workflows to ensure rapid and efficient transaction processing, crucial for seamless access through campus transit and other real-time smart card interactions. This paper outlines the design, implementation, and impact of these modules within an OTA service management framework, highlighting how they collectively enhance the adaptability, security, and performance of TSM systems.
