Metasurface with Diamond-Structured Phase Distribution for Backward RCS Reduction

A metasurface featuring a diamond-structured phase distribution to mitigate radar cross-section. This metasurface incorporates a coded phase distribution in a diamond pattern, effectively reflecting incident waves across six primary directions. The coded phase involves two unit cells. Simulation results indicate a significant RCS reduction, reaching up to 16.71 dB under normal x-polarization incident waves at 13 GHz and up to 18.05 dB at 20 GHz. The introduction of the diamond-structured phase distribution proves effective in lowering RCS within the frequency range of 9 GHz to 20 GHz. The variance in RCS reduction at different frequencies is attributed to distinct resonance characteristics.
