Metasurface Design of Honeycomb for Electromagnetic Absorption Enhancement

In this paper, a comprehensive scheme based on the carbon-based honeycomb, resistive patch and the skin was proposed, which attempts to place the resistance patch between the honeycombs. The resistive patch with ohmic loss can improve absorption, and thus, the composite metamaterial absorber (CMMA1) is achieved. In order to meet the needs of practical applications, the skin loading improves the impedance matching, further broadens the absorption bandwidth, and improves the electromagnetic wave absorption. Then, composite metamaterial absorber (CMMA2) consisting of carbon-based honeycomb, resistive patch and the skin is employed here to achieve broadband efficient absorption. Simulation shows that the proposed CMMA2 can achieve wide-band absorption with an efficiency of more than 90% in the frequency range of 6.8-20GHz. In this paper, the absorption properties of different absorbers are compared at the same thickness. Our designed CMMA2 not only overcomes the contradiction between broadening absorption bandwidth, high absorption efficiency and thickness, but also preserves the advantages of lightweight and easy practical application, so it has a wide application prospect in radar stealth technology.
