Design of a Compact Ku/Ka-Band Coaxial-Type Feed Antenna

Coaxial-type feed (CTF) antenna has been widely applied in many reflector antenna systems of SATCOM. This paper provides a new design of a CTF antenna operating on Ku/Ka-band, and the detailed design procedures of the CTF are explained so as to demonstrate the CTF design methodology. Simulated results including the VSWR, port-to-port isolation and axial ratio at different work bands are shown and discussed. The simulation results of the antenna in this paper achieve that the VSWR of Ku/Ka-band is less than 1.3, the isolation at Ku band is less than -42dB, and the axial ratio is less than 1.5dB at Ka band. The nominal taper can reach-12dB at ± 40°.
