Smartwatch-Powered Vehicle Navigation On Unmapped Terrain

The progress in wearable technology and the integration of machine learning have ushered in exciting prospects for the incorporation of smartwatches as input devices in diverse fields. This paper introduces an innovative user interface tailored for recognizing input commands within the specific context of an automotive environment. The primary objective of this interface is to harness the human body as the interaction platform, steering clear of any additional elements that could potentially distract the driver's attention. The chosen interaction surface is the lap, a nearly flat area that enables users to engage with it in a manner akin to using a touchpad. The experimental results underscored the viability of the proposed technique, showcasing a test accuracy of 94%.
