A Hybrid Digital Coding Metasurface Based on VO2 for Independent Control of Spatial and Surface Waves

Recently, the digital coding metasurface has garnered widespread attention. In this paper, integrating the concept of hybrid digital coding metasurfaces with VO
2
thin films allows for the independent manipulation of spatial waves and surface waves. By harnessing the phase transition properties of vanadium dioxide (VO
2
), one can dynamically alternate between reflection phase encoding and surface impedance encoding in the metasurface.The functional characteristics of this metasurface have been validated through simulations, showcasing significant potential applications in novel radar and satellite communication systems.
