A Decoupling Method Based on Time-modulated Array with Harmonic Characteristic Analysis

Mutual coupling is a common error source in antenna arrays that affects the performance of various applications. In this paper, a decoupling method based on time- modulated array (TMA) with harmonic characteristic analysis is proposed. Different from the conventional time-modulated technique which only analyzes the received signal’s harmonics of single antenna, the harmonic theoretical model considering coupling coefficients between adjacent antennas has been established and the corresponding coupling coefficients can be obtained independently. Moreover, several numerical simulations considering amplitude and phase coupling coefficients are given to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.
