SINR Analysis and Interference Mitigation for Continuous-Aperture Holographic MIMO Uplink

This paper investigates the uplink transmissions from a target user to a holographic MIMO surface (HMIMOS) receiver in the presence of multiple interfering users under the line-of-sight (LOS) channels. The HMIMOS-receiver has a rectangular continuous-aperture HMIMOS and a single RF chain. Approximations of the equivalent signal channel and interference channels are derived in closed-forms. Then the system signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) is obtained. Through rigorous asymptotic analysis we are able to identify the major contributors of the interference, and propose a novel adaptive interference mitigation scheme that can significantly reduce it.
