A New Modeling Approach to Evaluate the Impact of Randomly Distributed Pores on Heat Transfer Performance for Sintered Layer

Due to the small size and complex microstructure of the actual sintered layer, it is challenging to determine the influence of pore characteristics on the heat transfer performance of the sintered layer through experiments. Therefore, This paper proposes a new method for constructing a three-dimensional pore model. This new model accurately represents the randomness in pore distribution and irregularity in pore shapes, providing a more realistic simulation of the thermal behavior in the sintered layers. Utilizing finite element analysis, the study investigates the impact of pore characteristics on the heat transfer performance of sintered layers. It is found that under a porosity of 10%, the average heat flux for a uniformly distributed pore model is
$9.39\times 10^{8}\mathrm{W}/\mathrm{m}^{2}$
, while for two randomly distributed pore models, the average heat flux is
$1.01\times 10^{9}\mathrm{W}/\mathrm{m}^{2}$
. It can be concluded thatpore distribution has a certain promoting effect on effective thermal conductivity. When small pores merge into larger ones, the pore throat area increases, leading to an increase in heat flux and consequently an increase in thermal conductivity. Additionally, the presence of smaller pores, due to their smaller temperature gradients, can also increase thermal conductivity. The effects of pore arerelated to their positions and distributions, indicating that pore porosity alone cannot be the sole criterion for evaluation. Furthermore, it's crucial to take into account the size, shape distribution, and continuity of the pores.
