Controlling the Quality of Inkjet-Printed Quantum Dot Film by Ink-Substrate Interaction

The use of inkjet printing to produce quantum dots (QDs) for mini-LED display applications has gained a lot of attention lately. This is because inkjet printing, as opposed to other microscale patterning methods such as photolithography and imprint, is a more effective way to pattern QDs at the microscale with intended patterns. It is worthwhile to investigate the critical factors that influence the quality of inkjet-printed QD film since they can lower the cost and increase manufacturing efficiency. This study identifies the essential variables for maximizing QDs film inkjet printing quality. A deeper understanding of the interaction mechanism is obtained by inspecting the relationship between the QD ink and the substrate. On the other hand, QD morphology is used to assess the quality of the inkjet-printed QD film. The result indicates that the drop spacing between two adjacent droplet deposits on the substrate is one of the critical criteria that influences the printing quality of QD film. It is possible to obtain the uniform QDs film by adjusting the drop spacing value.
