The Mechanical Properties and Elastic Anisotropy of Ni3Sn4 Intermetallic Compound

The
$\text{Ni}3\text{Sn}4$
phase, as an intermetallic compound, plays a crucial role in evaluating the reliability of soldered connections, serving as a vital indicator for assessing the robustness and longevity of these joints. In this study, the anisotropy of shear modulus, Young's modulus and bulk modulus of
$\text{Ni}_{3}\mathrm{S}\mathrm{n}4$
monoclinic crystals is studied by first principles calculation. The results show that
$\text{Ni}_{3}\text{Sn}4$
is an anisotropic material, and the
$\text{Ni}_{3}\text{SN}_{4}$
-based structure is stable. The three-dimensional modulus curves and yz, xz, xy projections of
$\text{Ni}_{3}\text{Sn}4$
intermetallic compounds are given. The shear modulus has the strongest anisotropy and the volume modulus the weakest. Finally, the thermodynamic performance parameters of the Debye temperature of
$\text{Ni}_{3}\text{Sn}4$
were calculated based on the obtained elastic parameters. The calculated Debye temperature closely aligns with reported values, thus validating the accuracy of our mechanical parameter calculations.
