Electrical Properties of Dielectric Barrier Discharge Plasma Actuator in Argon with 13.56MHz RF Power Supply*

Dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) under atmospheric pressure has various industrial applications, and extensive academic research is now underway. Electrical characterization of the DBD actuator is critical for various reasons. This article describes numerous power calculation methods and compares them to determine the most accurate one. The voltage and current characteristics of the dielectric barrier discharge plasma in argon and a radio frequency power source at 13.56 megahertz, were measured, calculated input power, and compared to the theoretical technique to validate the measuring method and instruments. Finally, the power consumption of the plasma was determined from the Lissajous curve, with the capacitor monitor approach being the most accurate. The obtained power is consistent with the values provided in the articles.
