Powering the Moon by Utilizing Lagrange Points 4 and 5

In this paper, we proposed a free-space optics (FSO)-based wireless power transfer (WPT) scheme utilizing the stability of Earth-Moon Lagrange Points 4 and 5. The surface coverage analysis is conducted first to obtain covered distances and then harvested powers are determined by considering misalignment errors. It is found that two solar-powered satellites at these stable points can cover 83.12% of the lunar surface. Our statistical results show that the most probable harvested power is around 157 W, for 1 kW transmit power.
