Certifying Asset management system (ISO 55001:2014) in hydropower stations in Bhutan

The article presents the authors' experience of establishing, implementing, and obtaining certification of hydropower stations in Bhutan in ISO 55001:2014 – Asset management system. ISO 55001:2014 entails the requirements to establish, implement, maintain and improve the asset management system of the company. The certification process involved selecting a certification body, internal auditor training, implementing an asset management system, documenting, conducting gap analysis, and Certification Audit Stage I and Certification Audit Stage II. The company was one of the few organizations in Southeast Asia and the first organization in the country to be certified in ISO 55001:2014. The authors also present their recommendation to others in obtaining certification in ISO 55001:2014.
