Fractional-Order Model of Two-Mass Systems

In drive systems with flexible coupling, mechanical resonance is a common problem. Establishing an accurate model to solve this issue and improve the performance of drive systems is crucial. The paper focuses on the most common two-mass drive system in industry and an accurate fractional-order model is proposed utilizing the advantage of fractional-order models in accurately describing the flexibility characteristics of physical systems. Moreover, a time-domain identification algorithm is introduced to obtain unknown parameters of fractional-order models. In the end, the experimental results verify that the fractional-order model can more accurately symbolize the two-mass system compared to the integer-order model obtained using the least squares method.
