Hierarchical Distributed Consensus Based Networked Microgrid Energy Management For Disaster Relief

Natural disasters pose as a serious challenge to electric grid infrastructure, underscoring the pressing need for a dynamic and scalable energy management system (EMS) capable of integrating mobile distributed energy resources (DERs) efficiently during disaster relief efforts. This paper introduces a hierarchical distributed framework designed to reorganize the grid, enabling the formation of dynamically networked microgrids through a hierarchical structure. The effectiveness of this approach is evaluated through simulations, demonstrating its potential to enhance algorithm time convergence in pre and post-disaster situations. By adjusting to the fluctuating number of mobile DERs, the proposed hierarchical distributed strategy demonstrates promising approach for energy management across networked microgrids.
