Design Study of 800W-Class Hollow-Type Magnetic Geared Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor for Industrial Robot Arm Application

MG-PMSM has two outer and inner rotor with different speeds and torque on the same axis, it can be used as an industrial robot arm system. Therefore, in this research, a basic model considering design requirements is derived in order to apply MG-PMSM to a geared motor drive for an industrial robot arm consisting of an existing PMSM and a mechanical reducer. In general, MG-PMSM has a significant change in characteristics according to the gear ratio, so in this research, the design technique study is first conducted through the derivation of the 800W-class hollow-type MG-PMSM. The 800W-Class MG-PMSM model for the high & low voltage application is derived by the design technique studied, and design validation is performed through characteristic analysis.
